30 Days of Hind Hart | Brittany’s Year of Insta | Day 6

6

It was really hard to choose one image from each month. If I had to choose my favourites from the whole year they would have consisted of July and August, or an over abundance of photos of my dear London folk (who I am missing like crazy). It is so insane how much change can take place in one year. I moved back home, AND found out I was pregnant in 2013. I suppose you would consider those to be pretty big changes! These photos represent some very fond memories, and maybe a few selfies that I happen to like of myself… but mostly memories. Some big and some small, there were even some months where I barely had any photos to choose. There is no such thing as a year that is only filled with ups and I think many people are convinced that the new year will surely be better than the last. I think it is great to hope for a better year if you had a rough go in 2013, but lets be real… Every year is ALWAYS going to be filled with highs and lows, so lets just take it for what it is… Life. Learn to appreciate and cherish those good times, even though they may not always feel like the most exciting. (Example… Maybe you are broke and can’t afford to do anything but sit in a park, however you are with your best friend… Cherish the time you have with that friend) As I look back through my year I see many memories that I wish I could have back, but in the moment I probably thought my life was boring. NOT TRUE! Moral of the story, Cherish every day you have here on earth. The good, bad, ugly, boring, depressing, and the super-fun-kind-of-days-you-never-want-to-end.

Here is the “legend” to my memories of 2013

January: Not just a selfie. This is a memory of not only my perfect front bangs that only lasted a day, but the memory of my last house in London. Although we weren’t settled into this place it still held so many memories because it’s where I spent my last days with some of the most amazing friends I made when I moved to the city. I know there’s a very good chance I probably won’t live there again and even though I made some life lasting friendships, it really is bittersweet looking back at my time there.

February: London wasn’t the only place I made friends when I was in Ontario, it seemed I was always making the two hour commute to Windsor to photograph so many talented young people. This photo is me shooting behind the scenes at St.Clair College, which was just one of probably eight or nine back to back shoots I did that day. I am very thankful for the support everyone from this school gave me and I hope someday I will have the opportunity to photograph some of these amazing people again! I have to add that every time I went on these photo extravaganzas I had my girl Raven right by my side to entertain me, go on food runs for me and keep my energy up. Love her! This was our last weekend in Windsor and our last weekend spent together before I moved back to CB.

March: March marks my first full month living back in Cape Breton. This photo was my first night of “Shopping Bags”, a group of women who get together once a month for a good time, and draw a name for a winner of $480 to go shopping! We pay into it each month but it is so much fun to get out and to have a little chunk of money in the end to go treat yourself. I’m also guaranteed at least one night out a month with my mom and one of my favourite girls, Alma! I had to include this because we had to take a photo every month before we went out and it turned into our little tradition. I can’t wait for shopping bags to start up again in 2014! I highly recommend getting a group together like this if you are someone who needs a break every now and then. I am sure this will  be even more enjoyable for me when I have a baby.

April: April marks the month I tried this crazy acro yoga thing. I had NO idea what to expect but it turned out to be so much fun and I made a few very close friends from being part of this awesome group. Acro yoga has taught me to step outside my comfort zone and has been the most fun form of exercise I’ve ever done! I haven’t been as active with it since getting pregnant, but I get there when I’m feeling up to it 🙂

May: We moved into our new apartment after living with my in laws for two and a half months. This photo was also the first day in shorts after a long cold winter. It must have been near the end of May because I don’t remember it being that warm. I also loved this little outfit and it was probably one of my favourite things to wear that summer, so clearly it deserves to be a highlight of 2013.

June: I had to include a photo of this girl, because she really lights up my life these days! We worked together for a bit at the headshoppe but it wasn’t till I started working for her at Vision Salon that we really bonded. She is one of the few people in my life who I can always count on to make me laugh my ass off whenever I am around her. She is a fitness inspiration and one of the hardest working people I know, she also happens to be the best hairdresser too. We share a lot of simple, yet hilarious memories together that are worth being acknowledged. This photo was taken on our way to a friend’s birthday party, and boy do I ever look at this and get SO excited for when we can actually stand on that step again without 5 feet of snow. But seriously, it is never a dull moment with Becky! I am so thankful to have gotten to know her this past year.

July: My first ever mud run, or I suppose my first ever run to be exact. This was more fun than it was challenging, although there were some moments where I wanted to pass out from the heat while running up a ski hill. This was also the day we found out my beautiful sister-in-law Leigh-Anne was pregnant with baby numero three! Scotty dropped the ball on this one though, we weren’t supposed to know for another little bit.

August: One of my fav beach days of all times. Let’s just say it consisted a lot of beach acro yoga and a few wipeouts.

September: Ahhhh, September was my favourite month of the whole year. We got to celebrate the marriage of our good friends Dan and Keri which was the prettiest wedding I’ve shot yet! I surprised Raven and spent two days in Toronto, a week in London at Kristy Wall’s and of course a shot to Windsor to do an insane amount of shoots back to back after a wedding… So. much. fun. I ended September with my first acro performance in Lumiere with my acro family. Then I found out a week later I was PREGNANT! Needles to say, this was a big month for me. I miss it already.

October: Mom and I got to shoot tons of amazing looks for Posh Gaudy. Probably the most fun shooting I’ve had in a long time, I’m not sure if it was the gorgeous effortless models we had to work with or the endless array of vintage clothing. Either way it made for amazing images that both mom and I cannot wait to share with you over these next 30 days!

November: Hind Hart Studio’s first public appearance at the Timeless Moment’s Fashion Show. We really pulled this one out of thin air because the two of us procrastinated the planning of what this booth was going to look like. In the end it was exactly what we wanted and I can’t wait to set it up again in February at the MTCC Bridal Show!

December: My first time doing acro while pregnant… Hopefully there will be more of these to come.
