So where do I start with this one. Well let me begin by saying this is one wedding I will never forget. One of course because it was my first destination wedding, I will never forget about a year and half ago getting a message from Jeremy about photographing his wedding down south ( location yet to be decided on). I have to be honest my heart literally skipped a beat! I mean really someone actually wants me to travel this distance to capture one of the most special days of their lives. There are so many amazing photographers out there and they want me! I have to say this would have to be the most humbling/ highlights of my photography journey. I should add that Jeremy’s brother and his wife were actually my first wedding I ever photographed and have been doing them them ever since, and Jeremy and Jill would be my first ever destination wedding. I sure hope you guys will be putting me on the destination wedding train (or should I say plane).
Secondly because we thought this would be an awesome way turn this into a family getaway as well. It didn’t quite work out that way. My amazingly kind, compassionate and incredibly funny father in law was called home to be with Jesus. After just arriving in Halifax we got a call that Tony senior took a turn and was not expected to make the hour. He had been sick with Cancer for the last 7 months but we were not expecting something like this quite so soon. Of course my husband Tony had to return home. Being in no shape to drive home for some reason my oldest daughter Brittany and her husband Tim were actually in Halifax at the time. Coincidence I don’t think so! They were there for a reason. They made it home in record time and Tony was able to be there with his dad before he passed. Yes God works in mysterious ways. I spent the night in our hotel room in shock and and crying with my two youngest children who continued with me on my journey. It was such a sickening feeling knowing I had to be away from the rest of my family at this most horrible time. I took comfort in Brittany’s words when she said to me ” Mom we are all where we are supposed to be.” I have to say the plane ride felt something like a nightmare. My heart was simply not into it. I kept thinking I have to do this, ralley around Michelle !! Well something came over me when we arrived in paradise or should I say a little yellow bird who was with me all week kicked me in the ass! Sounds crazy but this little yellow bird is who we lovingly referred to as Big Tony! The morning of the wedding the first thing I saw was this bird looking at me. I swear I could hear Tony say ” you got this girl!” So I set out about the day and like to think I rocked it in his honour.
Jeremy and Jill I really could have not had a better couple to work with! Even tho I was faced with some obstacles I have to say shooting your wedding was by far the highlight of my week. It was the one time I didn’t think about anything going on back home. I was present in what I was doing and having a couple who just interacted so beautifully with each other sure made my job easier. I can’t thank you enough for trusting me with these beautiful memories. It was such an honour to be a part of your day! So now to some photos, I apologize for the long post but there are just too darn many photos to choose from. So here is a peek at Jeremy and Jill’s beautiful Mexico Wedding.
