It all started over a cup of coffee, when I met up with Heather and Jess to give them some of my wedding expertise. They had been engaged for a little while now and weren’t really sure how to go about planning a wedding, especially since they would be planning their wedding in Vancouver. So far they had only planned to do an engagement session with me, and just wanted some advice on wedding details. The more they told me about what they wanted from their wedding, like not having a ceremony, just a big party, and no photographer since it would basically be a big reception… I instantly thought “So lets just elope!”, never thinking they would actually go for it. Next thing I know we are planning a very intimate wedding weekend in the beautiful forests of Margaree Valley. (Swoon much?) Since they wanted this day to be all about them with absolutely no stress whatsoever, they told me to just do my thing in terms of decor and where we would take photos etc. I am still such a firm believer in the saying “Less is more”, and this is why. Yes, I love pretty details just as much as the next girly photographer but when you have such a beautiful couple in love like these two, the details don’t seem to matter as much. When the day is all gone, these are the moments you have to look back on. Maybe the look on their faces wouldn’t have been this true and honest had they been stressed out and weighed down by all of the silly details that cause most people to freak out on their wedding day. Trust me, this has nothing to do with how a couple feels about each other but stress can take over in ways we don’t even know. This is why I was SO beyond thrilled to capture these two committing their lives to one another. I knew it would be perfect in every way, no fuss no muss. I want people to remember what weddings are all about… A life long journey choosing to love, not a life long journey of planning one day!
Heather & Jess, you guys are awesome.
