AJ + Grace | Engagement | By Brittany

So clearly we are a tad behind on our summer blogging, it really has been a whirlwind of a summer, fall and winter. But as we sink into January with our bellies filled and our long lists of goals and resolutions we finally get a breather.

So I’ve known both AJ and Grace for a while now. AJ and I met about five years ago when we were both working at Wentworth Perk, I was in the process of planning my own wedding back then (crazy). Grace and I went to High school together but she had a few years on me so we didn’t really know each other. What I did know about Grace was that she’s always smiling and laughing, so when I found out that these two extraordinary people were engaged I hunted them down and forced them to let me take their photos (just kidding… kind of). Seriously though, as a photographer when I hear of awesome couples getting engaged I can’t help but get to them before they come to me. That sounds a lot worse than it is but I know all of my fellow photographers know where I’m coming from!

We wanted this session to be different, and it totally screams AJ and Grace (and me!). If any of you know A & G, you understand their love for nature, wine and a good rack… or taxidermy bear in this case. When I walked into that little cabin, many emotions came over me. One, why can’t I own this? Two, why didn’t AJ tell me about this place five years ago even when he barely knew me? And three, I may pass out from the heat! MY LANTA, freakin hot is an understatement so I feel as if I didn’t get to use this place to it’s full potential because we were so overwhelmed with sweat and could barely breathe. There was definitely a lot of trial and error due to rolling sweat beads, but we all laughed and these two had their wine so it was all fine and dandy. My favourite thing about this session though… The way these two look at each other. The way Grace scrunches her nose because she is just so darn happy to be in AJ’s presence. And lastly, how excited AJ was about this shoot, men aren’t usually too keen on photo shoots of any kind but not this guy, he pretty much organized it all.
