I met these two love birds well over a year ago when they contacted us about doing an engagement session and hopes of us being available for their wedding. Summers book up so fast and often over a year in advance. Paula decided to check it out and it turned out I was available. So we met up and chatted about the wedding plans and I knew it was going to be a good one. Not only because I knew Paula was going to be a detail queen ( which I love ) but because they were so darn easy to be around and they were excited to have us be a part of their day! Nothing makes me happier or more proud then when someone genuinely wants you for your work, not just because your the next available photographer. Ben may have thought I was a crazy lady chatting a mile a minute and even hugging them after our consult.
For anyone who knows Paula and Ben will know they have six ( yes thats right six ) adorable wiener dogs and they are madly in love with each one. When I first heard they were planning on having all six be a part of the wedding and attend the ceremony I must admit I was thinking how the heck is that going to work. They actually proved to be pretty darn good not to mention how adorable they are. Yes there was some barking going down the isle but they simmered right down while they watched mom and dad get married. Paula and Ben were married outdoors ( my favourite) and I have to commend her for having a vision and following thru on it. I know our Cape Breton weather is often a gamble and many will want to do it but end up taking the safe route. Paula you are a girl after my own heart, you knew what you wanted and you got it. Even tho the forcast was not looking good and calling for thunder showers and a 60 percent chance of heavy rain. I know you spent that Friday crying your little heart out because all your hard work and plans for this beautiful outdoor event were not looking good. However things turned out to be quite different, it was the sunniest day, so much so we had to seek shade for a good part of the day till the light softened later in the day.
Aside from the the pretty details the most adorable dogs, this day also had something quite remarkable and it was the genuine love the two of your share. I could feel it the whole day and my camera could certainly see it. The way Ben looked at you through the ceremony was truly beautiful. You guys were so comfortable with each other in from of the camera. I also loved how important your photos were to you both, even ditching speeches so we could shoot thru the pretty light. Immediately after we finished with that pretty light the skies opened up! I like to think the timing on this day was no coincidence someone up there was on our side.
