Today’s post is going to be a quick one but not one that should be read over lightly. I would like to introduce to you these lovely people below who I call my in laws. Although, I do feel that the word “in laws” is to formal for the relationship I have with these two. They have loved and accepted me from the very beginning, except for the time Sandra thought her son was dating “That hard girl from New Waterford.” The first time I met her, which was at Cape Breton Bible Camp in the chapel, Tim says “Hey Ma, this is the hard girl from New Waterford!”. I’m not sure who was more mortified, me or her. We still argue to this day with her over that first time meeting, Sandra claims she NEVER said that about me. I am sure she just got me confused with someone else! (It’s okay Sandra, it doesn’t make you a mean person…I am a little hard sometimes). Where was I? Oh yes, they loved and accepted me from the very beginning! David on the other hand, I am sure he has greeted me with a kiss on the cheek since the first time I met him and still does when he hasn’t seen me in a while. You could say him and Sandra are complete opposites, and I have witnessed this even more after living with them for a few months. If Sandra had it her way, she would have every window open in the house all winter. David’s way would be keeping the heat above 25 degrees with the wood stove turned on too, and of course covered head to toe in long johns (Okay a little bit exaggerated but you get it) I have to say, although I am itching to get into my own space they have been SO easy to get along with. I am so very thankful for their ongoing support and providing us with a roof over our heads till the new place is move in ready!
I am also thankful for the hard work they put in with five kids, and I am sure I will respect them even more after I have one. I know they would say they’ve made a lot of mistakes along the way, but then again who doesn’t? I personally think they did an amazing job and showed their kids what true love looks like… Never giving up! I know the reason my husband values our family the way he does, has a lot to do with his parents influence. Between these two and my own mom and dad, I sure feel like Tim and I have lot to live up to as parents. On the other hand, we both feel very blessed to both have parents who will be there to help and guide us along the way!
I really could have made this a lot longer, and there is SOOO much more I would like to share but lets be real. I’ve been in bed for 4 days now and even posting this feels draining at the moment. But I would like to finish by saying that this was the first time these two had their photo taken in fifteen years! I must say they look pretty darn good!
